Badlands to me is like this futuristic society, this dystopia in the future where everything is corrupt and it’s a wasteland and it’s kinda chaotic and it’s metaphoric for a mental state for me. That’s what I’m trying to encourage here, a revelation of kids who are fucking cool and poetic and creative and deep and dope and are fucking happy and love themselves. That’s all I’m trying to do here. To show that being happy is not lame, and everyone needs to get that picture so we can s t o p romanticizing n e g a t i v e feelings and n e g a t i v e behaviors and t o x i c mentalities.
